Far Western University (FWU) wasestablished in 2010 by an Act of Parliament and officially began its operationsafter the appointment of university officials in 2011. The university conductedits first historic council meeting on September 21, 2012, during which itobtained approval for its rules and regulations, academic programs, and budget.

The Faculty of Science andTechnology (FoST) was established as a key faculty of FWU to promote scientificlearning, research, and technological advancement in the region. Since itsinception, the faculty has focused on providing high-quality education in boththeoretical and practical aspects of science and technology.

FoST currently comprises:

  • Department of Computer Scienceand Information Technology (CSIT)
  • Department of General Sciences,which includes major subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology,Botany, Environmental Science, and Microbiology

The faculty has designed itsundergraduate programs to foster creativity, innovation, critical thinking, andproblem-solving skills among students. Each course encourages students toexplore, create, and implement new ideas, preparing them to compete in a globalenvironment.

In line with its mission toexpand academic opportunities, FoST plans to introduce new technical programsin fields such as Food Technology, Health Sciences, and MedicalMicrobiology. Graduate programs in Physics, Computer Science and InformationTechnology, and Mathematics are also under development.

Through its academic programs,research initiatives, and skill-oriented training, the Faculty of Science andTechnology aims to produce competent professionals and innovative thinkers whocan contribute meaningfully to the development of the region, country, and theworld.
